Mediation Training sponsored by the Iowa Association for Dispute Settlement (IADR) November 18 and 19, 2004 in Des Moines, Iowa, including training in Restorative Justice, Juvenile Court Mediation, Crucial Conversations, Mandatory Mediation, and Deep Listening.

Mediation Training through Iowa Mediation Service at 6200 Aurora, Suite 608W, Urbandale, Iowa 50322 (35 hours) held September 18, 19 and 20 and October 3 and 4, 2003.

Intensive training in narrative therapy with Michael White in Adelaide, Australia: February 1999, and at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia in June, 2002.

"Intuition: The Bay Leaf of Our Therapeutic Casserole" 1.5 hour workshop presentation which was part of the Third North American Conference on Spirituality and Social Work held at St. Thomas University in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada on June 19-21, 2008.

"Narrative Therapy, Advanced Training," two hour presentation to the staff of the Boys and Girls Home and Family Services in Sioux City Iowa on June 5, 2008.

"Intuition: The Bay Leaf of Our Therapeutic Casserole" 1.5 hour workshop presentation in Des Moines, Iowa on April 17, 2008. This workshop was part of the Iowa National Associaiton of Social Workers Annual Symposium enitled "Social Work Response in a Time of Crisis."

"Narrative Therapy, Introduction," two hour presentation to the staff of the Boys and Girls Home and Family Services in Sioux City, Iowa on February 7, 2008.

"Professional Ethics: Applying Principles of Ethics to Children's Mental Health Issues" 3 hour workshop presentation in Sioux City, Iowa on September 29, 2006. This workshop met the criteria of the Iowa Board of Social Work Examiners for 3.00 hours of continuing social work education in social work ethics and also met the criteria for the Iowa Board of Behavioral Science Examiners for 3.00 hours of continuing education as determined by the Iowa Chapter of NASW.

"Ethics in Social Work Practice" 3 hour workshop presentation in Sioux City, Iowa on August 4, 2006. This workshop met the criteria of the Iowa Board of Social Work Examiners for 3.00 hours of continuing social work education in social work ethics as determined by the Iowa Chapter of NASW.

"Creating Sacred Space: the Role of Assumptions" shared presentation with Launie J. Sorem, director of Foundation for Holistic Wellness in Boone Iowa. This three hour experiential workshop was held at the National Association of Social Workers, Iowa Chapter, Annual Symposium on April 14, 2005 in Des Moines, Iowa. The title of the symposium was "Renaissance in Social Work: Embracing Creative Paths to Healing."

"The Ethics of Expertise" 3 hour workshop presentation at the Many Faces of Mental Illness and Mental Retardation conference sponsored by Siouxland Mental Health Center in Sioux City, Iowa on June 4, 2004.

"Introduction to Narrative Therapy" 3 hour workshop presentation at Iowa Chapter NASW Annual Symposium entitled "Social Workers: Strengthening Individuals, Families, and Communities," held in Des Moines, Iowa on April 15th, 2004.

"The Ethics of Expertise" workshop presentation at Iowa Chapter NASW Annual Symposium entitled "Social Workers as Agents of Growth and Change" held April 10 and 11, 2003 in Des Moines, Iowa.

"Narrative Therapy: Working with Persons Who Have Experienced Childhood Trauma," three workshops presented in Sioux City Iowa on July 22, July 29, and August 19, 2002. Approved by the Iowa Board of Social Work Examiners through the National Association of Social Workers, Iowa Chapter, approved provider #0001. The full three day program was approved for 18.0 hours of continuing social work education, including 3.0 hours of social work ethics. Day one alone was approved for 6.0 hours of continuing social work education, including 3.0 hours of social work ethics.

"De-mystifying the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM IV-TR)," and "Ethical Implications in the Use and Misuse of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM IV-TR)": Two presentations at the 2001 Mental Health Conference entitled "Life Transitions: Mental Health Issues from Womb to Tomb." October 10-11, 2001, Ames, Iowa.

"DSM IV: Ethical Considerations," presenter at conference organized by NASW-SD entitled "A Trilogy of Topics," October 5, 2001, 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. in Pierre, SD.

"DSM IV-TR: Ethical Considerations,"
organizer and presenter at the Holiday Inn in Sioux City, Iowa, on April 27th, 2001 from 9 to 4:30. Approved by the Iowa Board of Social Work Examiners through the National Association of Social Workers, Iowa Chapter, approved provider #0001. This program was approved for 6.00 hours of continuing social work education in ethics. It was also approved through reciprocity by the South Dakota Board of Social Work for 6 CEUs, and by the South Dakota Board of Counselor Examiners for 6.0 hours of continuing education credit, program number BCE0122. It also met the criteria of an approved continuing education program for 6 CEUs of credit for mental health practice and for social work in the state of Nebraska.

"DSM IV: Ethical Considerations," workshop for the University of Iowa School of Social Work. The presentation originated on the ICN from Western Hills AEA in Sioux City, Iowa, and was broadcast to Davenport, Des Moines, and Iowa City, on March 30, 2001 from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m.
